How ties are broken in the standings

On equal points, it goes in this order: more wins, better set ratio and better points ratio. If they're still level on a qualifying position, you decide under your rules with “Decide the tie”.

The standings only count finished matches (not voided ones) and are ordered like this:

  • 1. Points.
  • 2. Wins.
  • 3. Set ratio: sets won divided by sets lost.
  • 4. Points ratio: points scored divided by points conceded.

In football, handball and basketball, 3 and 4 are the ratio of goals or points scored to those conceded. It's a ratio, not a difference.

If two or more teams are still level on everything right at a qualifying position, TournAI doesn't pick: it warns you so you can tap “Decide the tie” and order them under your rules (head-to-head, a draw…). See “A tie on a qualifying position”.

The order of the four criteria is fixed: at the moment TournAI doesn't let you change it or use head-to-head as an automatic criterion.

Write down in the tournament's “Rules” how you'll settle a tie: that way nobody argues about the decision.

If you need this, tell us from the assistant (“Write to a person”): it helps us decide what to improve.
